格特鲁德·斯坦因,美国女作家。她的创作技巧在一定程度上受到了立体主义及实验派画家的影响,如毕加索和保罗·塞尚。她对写作的创新强调的是声音和节奏,而不是文字的意义。在她的作品中,《软纽扣》被公认为斯泰因最成功的实验之作。在《软纽扣》中,意象和短语通常以让人出乎意料的方式联系在一起,就像立体主义的绘画作品。因此,本文试图通过对《软纽扣》的各种创作技巧的分析来探索斯泰因的日常生活观和历史观。论文分为五个部分:介绍,主要的三章及结论。第一章主要探索斯泰因如何用颜色词和名词去描绘日常生活的静态画面。在运用颜色词方面,斯泰因无疑受到了印象派画家的影响,如保罗·塞尚。而在《软纽扣》中,名词不再是对事物的冠名而是通过研究其意义的不确定性发现其更多的内涵。第二章主要讨论斯泰因对标点符号的运用以及诗歌的韵律来象征历史的动态进程。从形式上看,《软纽扣》的风格更像是散文,因此标点有着自己的意义。斯泰因从弃用标点到对标点有重新的审视说明她试图用语言的最基本符号-逗号来表达她对历史连贯性的思考。而在分析斯泰因的诗歌韵律时读者也不难发现其用心,即通过诗歌的韵律来表达事件的节奏。第三章讨论的重点被放在了“拼贴法”“简化法”和“重复法”这三个创作技巧上。其中拼贴法和简化法则是表达生活的琐碎性与简单性而重复法表达的是历史的循环往复性。总之,格特鲁德·斯坦因不仅为诗歌的写作创作做出了贡献,更发现了一种更好的展现历史与生活本质的方法。通过对各种技巧的分析,读者可以得知在斯泰因眼中,生活尽管是多姿多彩包罗万象的,但其本质却是琐碎的简单的。而历史不仅是一个动态的过程更是一个周而复始的重复过程。
