时间观念多样性暨中美时间观念对比

论文摘要

每当提及时间,我们就会先入为主地想到客观、机械的时钟时间。本文对这种常识性的假定提出了挑战。实际上,这种假定是相对晚近的,可以追溯到大约持续了400年历史的所谓现代性时期。以时钟时间为霸权的现代时间文化排斥了其他多种时间形式。从历史的角度我们可以发现前现代时间仍然存在;通过对不同时间文化的对比和举例,我们可以了解时间观念的多样性;而对中美时间观念的现象的对比以及对其深层原因的剖析,又为外语教学提供了理论支持,为跨文化交际教学丰富了方法。本文总共分为五章。第一章介绍了本文的研究目的和组织结构;第二章为文献综述部分,列举并评析了重要的概念和相关理论。第三章通过纵向的历史比较和横向的文化对比进行理论上的研究。从时钟时间的起源谈到工业时间;着重阐述了现代性在不同领域中和时间的联系;最后从时钟时间的悖论引出时间观念的多样性。讨论了早期时间观念的持续性,不同社会群体比如女性、宗教对时间的理解已及被压迫文化的时间观念。第四章从几个层面上对中美时间观念共同点和不同点进行了对比,并探究了其深层次的原因。第五章提出了外语教学关于非语言交际的建议和意见,指出了本文研究的不足并提出了进一步研究的建议。本文采用了举例、纵向比较、横向比较、个案对比等方法。希望本文研究时间观念的新视角能够对文化研究有所贡献。
