混乱思想与身份困惑 ——分析《金色笔记》中20世纪中期人们的精神面貌

多丽丝·莱辛作为当代最有影响力的作家之一,从她的第一部小说开始就备受世界关注。写作风格灵活多变使她的作品颇受赞誉同时也饱受争议。《金色笔记》作为她的主要代表作一直都是争议的焦点。对于把此书标榜为女性主义代表作的言论使莱辛尤为反感,她曾明确表示此书的写作意图—写一本像《安娜卡列尼娜》或《红与黑》那样全面描写时代的精神和道德气候的书。莱辛在写作中的确关注到了形形色色的人。女性固然是她写作的重点,但种族问题,同性恋等当时敏感的话题也被她涉及,所以在分析此书时应该尊重作者的创作意图。本文从心理分析的角度对《金色笔记》中的各种人物的精神世界及其自我身份的困惑进行探讨。小说中的二十世纪五十年代是一个政治动荡,信仰幻灭的时期。蓬勃发展的社会主义运动顷刻间灰飞烟灭,许多人因此陷入了迷惘,而在美国和前苏联兴起的对共产党员暗杀及迫害又加重了人们的思想压力。自由女性面对信仰的破灭几近崩溃。事业、感情的失败及和子女代沟再次使她们陷入绝望;男性面对女性运动的发展也开始对男女关系重新思考;生活在此期间的孩子们也没有摆脱混乱现实的困扰,他们对自我身份也产生了困惑;同性恋者作为边缘群体在混乱中积极为自我权利斗争。本文对各类人物进行了逐一分析,见证了他们矛盾的内心世界以及对自我由困惑到肯定的经历。总之,人们克服精神崩溃的最好途径是对自我的正确了解及肯定。
