译者主体性对译本的影响 ——以《浮生六记》两英译本为例

主体性是一个源自哲学体系的概念,指主体在进行对象性活动中本质力量的外化,亦即能动地改造客体,影响客体,控制客体,使客体为主体服务的特性。译者主体性,指译者在尊重和忠实原文的前提下,为实现其翻译目的,在翻译过程中所体现出的主观能动性。在翻译活动中,译者享有发挥主观能动性的自由,但同时也受到某些限制。概括而言,译者主体性主要表现在译者根据自身特点和特定的翻译目的选择不同的翻译策略。《浮生六记》是清人沈复写的一部自传体小说。迄今为止,共有三种英译本。其中,林语堂的译本（1935）发表时间最早,亦最为世人熟知。白伦（Leonard Pratt）和江素惠（Chiang Su-hui）夫妇合译之作是最新的译本。本文作者试图从这两个英译本的对比分析出发,研究译者主体性在翻译活动中的体现。对比分析主要包括三个方面:不同的翻译目的;不同的翻译策略;不同的文化背景和语言能力。基于对两译本中大量实例的分析,笔者不难发现译者主体性贯穿于整个翻译过程之中并发挥着重要的作用。全文分为四个部分。第一部分回顾了翻译理论发展史上有关译者角色的评价。第二部分提出了有关译者主体性的定义。第三部分介绍了《浮生六记》及其两种英译本的译者。第四部分在对比两种英译本的不同点的基础上,从译者的角度出发,分析了产生不同之处的原因,指出《浮生六记》两种英译本的不同体现了译者主体性的作用。
