论文摘要
张爱玲是少数能够娴熟运用双语进行写作,并坚持翻译自己作品的作家,自译活动贯穿了张爱玲的整个写作生涯,涉及其散文、短篇小说及中篇小说。重视实践的张爱玲,虽然没有留下系统的翻译理论,但从她的相关散论及译作中可以归纳出她的翻译见解和态度。许多学者均对张爱玲自译作品展开研究,但对其在自译活动中充分展现的主体性这一似乎不言而喻的问题可以带给我们的思考却鲜有人问津,其以受众为主要考虑的翻译特色也有待进一步认识。本文选取张爱玲的《怨女》为研究个案。这是由张爱玲用英文写作(也是一种翻译),后译回母语的一部较少被自译研究涉及的作品。探讨在自译这种特殊而自成一格的翻译活动下,译者主体性在张爱玲自译活动中的重现及其以受众为中心的翻译特色。结合相关理论,在对该自译作品及其翻译策略进行描述、分析的基础上,窥出张爱玲如何灵活充分利用自译这一特殊优势,做到了译者主体性与受众中心化的和谐统一。通过研究,笔者认为,在把握好自译所赋予译者的高度自由特权下,充分考虑到受众因素,自译不仅能为译者带来优势,也让读者能够深入体会原作的精髓所在;同时,自译活动中主体性的充分展示也对一般意义的他译者如何掌握好译者主体性的“度”具有警示作用。再者,本文对完善张爱玲的自译研究也有积极意义。
