汉英诗歌意象衔接研究

论文摘要

随着中国的发展以及中西方文化交流的日益加深,越来越多的西方人开始对汉语及其文化产生兴趣。古典诗歌作为中国文化的瑰宝,势必受到西方读者的欢迎。汉诗注重意象的营造,一句诗里有一个甚至两个以上的意象,有的相关性并不是很强,但读完全诗以后,这些互不相关的杂乱的意象就神奇地产生了内在的关联,奇妙地形成了完整的意象,自然地完成了语篇的衔接。语言简练是中国古典诗歌的优点,这留给读者更多的想象空间,读完以后让人感觉回味无穷,但是在翻译成英语时又成为翻译的难点。由于英语不同于汉语,它是一种典型的形合语言,其结构十分严谨,语句成分必须用明显的形式标记结合起来。从某种意义而言,汉诗英译包含了一个在原诗字里行间找寻隐含的语义关系(隐性语义纽带),将其化隐为显,体现为用英语重新构造相应诗篇的复杂过程,在这过程中,必然涉及到各种语篇衔接手段的运用。因此,研究意象的衔接功能和衔接手段必将深化衔接与连贯的研究,为汉英诗互译提供新的视角,有助于加强中西方文化的交流。本文以汉英意象诗歌为研究对象,拟从以下几个方面论证意象的衔接功能和衔接手段:1)时空意象。从接受心理学角度看,人们筛选辨别新事物时,通常首选时空性强的信息作为认识基础,形成概念,再进行第二次、第三次信息加工。诗歌的创作通常在一定的时空背景下展开,时空的有序性能使诗歌语篇具有一定的衔接功能。2)自然意象。由于不同的意象组合可以造就不同的意境,因此本文主要从意象的并置,多重意象组合,意象的渗透及一个中心意象来阐述自然意象的衔接功能。3)社会意象。根据诗人常选用的主题,分为田园生活,战争场面,相思生活,送别场境。由于社会意象可以把诗中的各种成分统一到一起,形成一个完整的画面,从而实现语篇的衔接。4通感意象。人的各种感觉可以相互交感,相互贯通,形成思维网络,构成语篇衔接。通过研究我们发现,由于英语重形合,英语意象诗的衔接更多的是借助于显性衔接手段,如连接词的使用,意象衔接功能不是那么明显。而汉语重意合,诗歌中很少出现显性的连接词,则更多的是借助于意象实现语篇的衔接。但是缺少连接词或以不完整的句子形式出现的意象诗仍然能够被以英语为母语的读者接受,这说明意象的确具有语篇衔接功能,这是因为认知具有有序性,结构性和完整性的特点及组织功能(赵艳芳,2001)。意象正是利用认知的这种特点使看似不相关的句子在人的头脑中重新组合产生联系,从而形成一个连贯的语篇。最后得出这样一个结论:意象的确具有衔接功能,意象的外层空间实现语篇的衔接,内层空间实现语篇的连贯。文章选用《天净沙.秋思》和《江雪》两译本为语料进行对比,论述意象衔接手段在译文中的体现与应用。
