从翻译的角度对比研究英汉语篇照应手段

语篇分析作为一种语言研究方法,其研究对象通常都是大于句子的单位,句子的长短并不重要,衔接才是语篇分析的关键。因此,衔接就成为了语篇分析的重点对象之一,Halliday的语篇衔接理论(1976)把英语的衔接手段分为五大类:照应,省略,替代,连接,以及词汇衔接。照应作为一种重要的语篇衔接手段,是指语篇中某一语言成分与另一语言成分之间在指称意义上的相互解释关系。照应不只在实现篇章衔接起着重要的作用,更可以让语言简洁,因此是很有研究价值的。翻译研究是与语言及其意义的研究紧密相连的,语言学与翻译的结合也是目前的研究趋势。演说语篇具有口语和书面语双重特征,衔接手段又非常丰富,尤其是指称的运用,极具特点,在翻译此类文本时,指称的处理方法和其他文本中的处理方法是有区别的。本文以Halliday和Hasan的衔接理论为基础,以英汉演说语篇为语料,通过对两种语言照应手段的异同进行了分类对比,除人称照应,指示照应和比较照应外,零指称在本文也作为同等重要的一类照应手段来进行分析,因为零照应作为汉语的常规,是英汉差异最显著的地方。通过英汉两种语言的对比分析,本文发现,英语中照应手段的使用比汉语频繁,汉语中照应手段较少但比英语灵活,实现的方法多样,比如省略和重复原词,汉语的这种灵活性决定了在翻译过程中具体处理策略的多样性。在翻译中,译本中汉语的指称可能发生变化,但是指称的意义和功能并没有发生变化,也就是说,仍然实现了语篇的连贯。
