翻译研究中的思辨方式与实证方式 ——《中国翻译》论文的方法论研究

论文摘要

作为一门综合性学科,翻译学兼有人文社会科学和自然科学的特点,其研究方法亦趋于多样化。遗憾的是,国内的文献并未系统、深入地探讨这些方法在译学中应用的情况。有鉴于此,笔者对国内翻译研究方法应用情况展开调查与描述,并以思辨方式与实证方式这对概念作为切入点,对方法论研究进行补充。本文回顾并分析了思辨方法论、实证方法论的三个层次,与国内译界在方法应用上受到的影响（国学传统、方法论训练不足等）分别进行对比,得知中国的译学传统在哲学层次上与思辨研究更为接近,方法论训练不足在实证方法的使用中体现得更加明显。基于第一、第三层次的特点,笔者假设国内译界在中间层次上,思辨方式的应用较为广泛、成熟,而实证方式应用相对较少,且并不成熟。本文以《中国翻译》近十年来（1997-2006）刊登的思辨研究和实证研究论文为数据,通过定量、定性分析,归纳出研究方式层次的应用特点。并与中国学术传统、方法论意识进行对比,所得出的结论与研究假设一致。思辨方式占据了研究论文中的绝大部分,应用领域也更为广泛,研究目的主观性强。与之相对,实证方式在国内译界尚处于起步阶段,数量很少,应用面窄,研究目的是以收集经验数据为主,并不注重上升到理论层面。要解决国学传统给翻译研究带来的负面影响,必须对症下药。思路的笼统趋势是其一,体现在研究中对概念的定义、分类、引用等方面;笔者认为可以将笼统化作优势,尝试整合中西方法论。对经验的依赖性和方法论训练的缺乏,可通过增加针对翻译研究所需方法论的课程和教材,加强方法论意识来解决。
