近年来,随着理论语言学、心理语言学以及认知心理学的迅速发展,第二语言学习的研究中心由研究“如何教”转到了研究“怎么学”,更关注语言学习者本身。学习者的学习动机是产生个体学习差异的重要情感因素之一。研究者已经对这一课题进行了许多调查和研究。本研究以相关理论和前人的研究成果为基础,旨在更深入的了解我国高校非英语专业英语教学和英语学习的实际现状。本文首先介绍了第二语言学习的相关知识,以此为背景知识,介绍了有关学习动机的基本概念以及相关重要理论,并对动机与第二语言学习的关系,特别是动机的重要作用做了分析。本文的主要部分是对影响学习动机诸多因素的详细分析。研究动机是为了找到促进外语教学和学习的有效方法。只有深入了解影响学习动机的各变量,才能有针对性地提出对策。总体上说,这一部分主要从三个角度对这些变量进行了探讨:社会因素、教学因素和学习者的自身因素。三大部分下面又进行了详细的分类和具体的分析。本研究旨在探讨我国高校非英语专业学生英语学习动机的强度以及不同成绩的学生在动机方面的差别,从而找出提高英语学习效果的有效途径。所选的130名受试者为中国海洋大学非英语专业大三的学生,来自三个不同的专业。通过问卷调查所得数据,分析他们的英语学习动机与学习效果的关系。通过调查,得出三个结论:(1)大多数非英语专业的学生普遍具有较高的外在动机,其内在动机有待提高。(2)动机强度与学习成果不成正比,其他因素比如学习策略等也会影响学习效果。(3)与动机相关的学习兴趣、学习的努力程度等也对学习者的表现有很大影响。通过调查研究,本文提出了提高英语学习动机的建议,比如鼓励合作式学习、建立融洽的师生关系、促进自主学习等。
