中美硕士学位论文英文摘要词汇重复模式对比研究

论文摘要

Hoey的词汇重复模式是以Halliday和Hasan词汇衔接为理论框架,以Hasan的“衔接和谐”理论、Winter的“重现替代关系”理论以及Phillips的“远距离衔接组织”理论为基础建立的一种新型语篇分析模式。该模式具有极强的实用性和可操作性。20世纪90年代以来,国内外学者开始着眼于运用该理论指导英语听、说、读、写教学,但很少有人尝试把它和学位论文摘要结合进行对比分析。本研究试图填补这一空缺以指导国内学位论文摘要写作。首先,分别从PQDD(Proquest Digital Dissertation)及CNKI(China National Knowledge Infrastructure)硕博论文数据库各检索25篇英文摘要,建立两个专门的语料库;然后,以Hoey的词汇重复模式为理论框架,利用Antconc语料分析软件及SPSS数据统计软件对比中美研究生所写的硕士学位论文英文摘要在微观词汇重复类型及宏观结构方面存在的异同,并进一步分析存在差异的原因及词汇重复类型的选择与摘要宏观结构之间的关系;最后,总结该研究结果对中国研究生英文摘要写作的启示。研究结果表明:(1)两样本在简单词汇重复、简单转释方面存在显著性差异;而在复杂词汇重复、复杂转释及其他重复类型方面不存在显著性差异。(2)在宏观结构方面,中国研究生倾向于使用BIPMR(Background-Introduction-Purpose-Methodology-Results)模式;而美国研究生倾向于传统模式IMRD(Introduction-Methodology-Results-Discussion)。由此可见,一方面,中国研究生往往借助简单词汇重复弥补他们有限的词汇和匮乏的英语思维;美国研究生则更多的使用复杂词汇重复体现用词的多样化及语言运用的流利程度。另一方面,中国学者在摘要写作时,喜欢加入背景知识以帮助读者更好地理解文章传达的显性信息;美国学者则青睐对研究结果进行讨论以便深入挖掘文章暗示的隐性信息。总之,本研究对国内的英语学习者了解学位论文英文摘要的词汇重复模式及宏观结构有一定的帮助,同时,对学位论文英文摘要的写作有一定的借鉴意义。
