论儿童文学翻译中的读者缺席 ——以《哈利波特》为例

论文摘要

儿童文学在儿童成长的过程中起着非常重要的作用。它丰富了儿童的精神世界,赋予他们知识,对他们早期世界观、价值观的形成极为重要。在当今这个全球化的世界,世界各国的优秀文学作品不断的流入我国,其中不乏优秀的儿童文学作品。但是在中国,对于接受能力和语言能力有限的儿童来讲,优秀的儿童译本并不多。儿童文学翻译在理论上和实践上的发展很不平衡,并引起了很多问题。一方面,儿童文学的翻译文本数量惊人;另一方面,对儿童文学翻译的专门研究又少之又少,以至于儿童文学翻译在翻译研究中处于边缘位置。然而,《哈利·波特》系列中译本在中国的成功,让中国儿童文学的翻译又迎来了久违的热潮,译者们将目光再一次的关注在了儿童文学翻译的质量上面,例如,刘洛林在文章《<哈里·波特与魔法石>翻译技巧评析》中详细分析了《哈利·波特与魔法石》中的翻译技巧,期望能够带来能够与《哈利·波特》系列相媲美的优秀的文学翻译作品。在儿童文学翻译过程中,译者要面对无法从儿童读者的心态角度在翻译过程中进行自检与评价的问题,即读者缺席的问题。在对待这一问题上,译者要充分了解儿童文学作品的功能与作用,以及儿童读者的期待视野。目的论的核心是目的法则,即产生一个能达到预期功能的译文是翻译最重要的目的。译者在翻译儿童文学作品时,要遵循目的论的原则,使译文达到吸引儿童读者、启迪儿童读者的目的。在这一过程中,译者也要对儿童读者的预期有一定的了解。所谓“期待视野”,是接受理论的核心概念,指的是在文学作品阅读之前及阅读过程中,作为接受主体的读者,基于个人和社会的复杂原因,心理上往往会有一个既成的结构图示。正确理解儿童读者的接受能力、审美能力及价值观等,可以帮助译者在翻译时达到最好的效果。本文运用目的论和接受理论,结合苏侬2000年的《哈利·波特与魔法石》的中译本及其原著,探讨他们在儿童文学翻译过程中的体现。通过大量翻译实例进行详细分析,并得出结论:在成功的儿童文学的翻译过程中,目的论和期待视野理论都得到了充分的体现,译者在他们的认知能力范围内,灵活地采用各种翻译策略,达到了非常成功的翻译效果。
