论“修改原文”在旅游导册翻译中的应用

论文摘要

随着旅游业的蓬勃发展,越来越多的英文旅游导册问世。与此同时,旅游导册内的各种错误也频频出现。一般认为这要归根于译者劣质的翻译水平,及翻译手段和策略的不到位运用,但本文认为原文的不合格也是一个重要因素。因此要使旅游导册的翻译更完善,修改原文应是翻译的一个必要步骤和重要策略。目的论认为,翻译所要达到的目的决定整个翻译行为的过程,即:翻译最终的目的决定翻译手段。旅游导册是一种实用文本,译文读者的期望决定了导游手册的目的是为外国游客提供在旅游过程中所需的相关信息,并诱发其兴趣,产生行动.因此,旅游导册的译文不必提供原文所有的信息,也不需字字句句都译出,这就为修改原文提供了依据。本文从译文的错误出发,认为原文的问题才是旅游导册翻译最本质的因素。而要修改原文就要对中英旅游导册的差异有确切的把握。本文通过对比国内和国外作者对同一景点的描写,分析国内外在文化,写作风格,社会制度,宗教信仰等方面的不同,并在此基础上探讨修改旅游导册原文的五原则。本文提出,要进行中英旅游导册的翻译,在翻译前,要对旅游导册原文进行修改;翻译过程中,需灵活采取各种翻译技巧。最后,本文通过具体的例子来分析如何把修改原文应用于旅游导册翻译。修改原文是一种很实用的翻译策略,可以进行系统地研究并用于指导旅游导册翻译的实践,使导册译文的错误得到有效地消除,取得更好地效果。
