论文摘要

美籍华裔女作家任璧莲的代表作《典型的美国佬》中的特蕾萨,虽着墨不多,但却是贯穿始终的灵魂人物。东西方的文化和价值观念在她的身上得到融合,尽管不十分完美,但却令人充满期待。本篇论文从多元文化主义的角度分析了特蕾萨的性格。全文共分为五章。第一章,导言。简要介绍作者的生平,以及作品的主要内容,多元文化主义理论,文献综述。第二章,分析了东方文化属性下特蕾萨的仁爱心、强烈的家庭责任感、典型的成功观念和她的纯洁性及为家庭自我牺牲的性格特征。第三章,论证西方文化属性下特蕾萨独立自主及开拓进取的性格。第四章,作为“典型的美国佬”,特蕾萨兼具了中国文化传统和美国价值观。第五章,结论。
