精神文化的异域旅行 ——中篇小说《棋王》英译的研究

《棋王》作为“寻根文学”的代表作,自发表以来便备受关注。该小说以知青的生活为主题,讲述了以王一生为代表的知青们对精神生活的追求。国内学术界从多角度对其进行了广泛、深入的研究。然而,“棋王”虽有英译本,却很少有人关注。自从1990年代以来翻译研究便出现了“文化转向”。有许多学者从不同角度提出了相关理论来研究翻译过程中的文化问题。本文运用苏珊·巴斯奈特的文化翻译理论、勒弗菲尔的意识约束理论以及图里的翻译规范理论对《棋王》及其英译本之—The King of Chess进行了对比,探讨译文的得失,分析其是否准确传达了文中的信息,尤其是文化信息,从而加深了对原作及译文的理解与欣赏。本文分五章。第一章阐述了研究《棋王》及其英译本的原因,回顾了国内对《棋王》的研究文献,由于对《棋王》英译本的研究几乎没有,因此还对其它文本的类似研究及其采用的方法进行了回顾。此外,还阐述了研究目的。第二章对作者阿城及《棋王》、译文及译者分别作了介绍。第三章概述了苏珊·巴斯奈特的文化翻译理论、勒弗菲尔的意识形态理论以及图里的翻译规范理论。第四章运用以上理论,分别从文化大革命、象棋以及道家文化三个方面对原文和译文进行了对比分析。第五章总结之前的分析与讨论,得出结论,并指出本文的局限性,为进一步的研究提出了建议。
