水利英语中的语法隐喻及其翻译研究

论文摘要

2011年年初中央出台一号文件要求大力加强我国水利建设。对水利英语语篇中的语法隐喻及其翻译开展研究,一方面是对科技英语翻译方法的积极探索,另一方面是对水利行业翻译工作的有益尝试。语法隐喻是发生于语法层面的隐喻化过程,它通过打包句子增大句子密度和信息量。大量语法隐喻的运用造成了水利英语语篇的高度专业化和晦涩难懂现象。本论文依托韩礼德的语法隐喻理论,将Maritime Structures(《海工建筑物》)这一极具代表性的水利工程建设指导手册作为文本对象。只有正确拆析和翻译这些语法隐喻,文本才能被正确的认识。全文分为四章:第一章回顾语法隐喻理论。历时地综述语法隐喻理论,尤其是韩礼德先生的语法隐喻理论。笔者提出“打包”和“降级”是生成语法隐喻的重要手段。第二章介绍水利英语及其翻译现状。我国水利英语翻译十分重要但研究成果严重不足,且翻译实践中存在不少错误。第三章对Maritime Structures(《海工建筑物》)中的语法隐喻现象进行考察。通过抽样分析,该文本主要有7种语法隐喻类型,其中名词化和形容词化分别约占67.6%和24.3%,比重最大。它们都有自己的典型词汇和句法结构,且在水利语篇中发挥着认知、人际和信息承载功能。第四章探讨水利语篇中语法隐喻现象如何翻译。笔者提出翻译工作分为理解和重构两个阶段。在理解阶段拆析语法隐喻结构,去隐喻化。在重构阶段将拆析和去隐喻化后的信息按照时间句序重新组织形成译文。同时,对应主要的语法隐喻类别分析和归纳了它们的翻译方法。
