从关联理论视角探讨《红楼梦》中习语的翻译

关联理论的创立者Sperber和Wilson认为人们之间的交际过程实际上是一个明示推理的过程,交际的双方在交际的过程中都希望实现最佳关联,交际的成功取决于两个因素:语境效果和认知努力。在其他条件均等的情况下,语境效果越强,关联就越大;同样地,在其它条件均等的条件下,付出的努力越小,关联就越大。语境还可以细分为上下文语境﹑情景语境﹑文化语境。后来Sperber和Wilson的学生Gutt将关联理论应用到了翻译理论,用关联理论来解释翻译中的现象和问题,探讨了处于原文作者,译者和译文读者三者之间的全新关系。从而从一个新的视角对翻译现象和翻译文本进行了研究。《红楼梦》是18世纪中期由清代曹雪芹所著,是中国最出色的小说之一。作者在书中运用了大量的习语。习语不仅有生动的形象,还有固定的结构,除此之外,习语中还包含了不被外国读者知晓的或不易被他们理解的中国独有的文化信息。已经有研究者运用翻译理论中的归化理论,异化理论,以及结构主义理论研究过《红楼梦》中的习语英译。根据关联理论,译者不仅重视原文本,同时他还必须正确理解原文作者的意图及熟悉译文读者的认知环境。本文将从关联理论的视角来研究《红楼梦》中的习语翻译,探讨为了实现原文与译语读者之间的成功交际,译者如何运用自己对原文语言和文化的知识,从原文的上下文语境,情景语境和文化语言语境中推理出原文作者的交际意图。然后再根据译者对译语语言和文化的认知和了解,推断译语读者的期待,运用不同的翻译方法实现原文读者和译语读者的最佳关联。
