论英译汉语散文中的美的传达

论文摘要

现代汉语散文较古代汉语散文有很大变化。它蕴含着1919年以来中国人的新思想,并具有独特的美,然而其翻译实践与理论陈述却不如对古代散文那么广泛、深入。基于此,本文对现代汉语散文英译中的美的传达进行研究。将翻译美学理论与德国功能翻译学派代表人物Katharina Reiss的文本理论作为研究方法。本文首先描述过去的散文翻译,回顾对散文的美的研究,及其翻译实践和理论陈述。为了将“美”这一抽象的概念具体化,本文运用翻译美学理论分析汉语散文英译的美学现象,讨论其中的两个范畴——翻译审美主体即译者以及翻译审美客体即译者要翻译加工的原文。在对翻译审美主体的分析中,本文讨论了译者在翻译中的困境,即在充分发挥主观能动性方面的困难;通过分析翻译审美客体的审美属性和审美构成,本文认为翻译审美客体的“美”具体体现为其审美构成。因此,传达汉语散文的美应该通过传达其审美构成来实现。Reiss的文本理论按照语篇的主要功能将翻译审美客体划分为四类。该理论认为表情类语篇的翻译应采取“同一”策略,即寻求译文与原文在形式上的相似以及在美学效果上的对等。根据文本理论,汉语散文属于表情类语篇。因此在传达汉语散文的审美构成的过程中,译者应采取“同一”策略,即译文在审美构成上与原文达到对等。汉语散文的审美构成包括形式系统即形式美,以及非形式系统即联想美和象征美。其中,形式美指的是语音、字词和句段层面的美,联想美指的是意境美,象征美指的是象征意象美。通过摘选并评价一些著名现代汉语散文的译文,本文尝试探索出达到译文与原文在审美构成的对等的最佳方法。最后,为加强本研究对实践的指导作用,本文选取朱纯深、杨宪益和David Pollard的《荷塘月色》三译本,评价其对原文的美的传达。
