来自庞德的启示：意象翻译与均势文化交际

论文摘要

随着翻译理论研究的不断发展,越来越多的学者开始意识到翻译不单单涉及两种语言之间的转换,还包括源语文化及目标语文化的差异处理。本文主要通过对后殖民主义理论及庞德翻译的研究揭示适合当今文化交际的翻译策略。通过研究后殖民主义理论及实际翻译操作,作者认为可将文化交际中的所有文化分为两类,即强势文化和弱势文化。在文化交际中,强势文化同弱势文化在传播速度和范围上都存在差距,这种势差往往会影响译者,造成译者针对强势文化和弱势文化的翻译采取截然不同的翻译策略,从而加速这两种文化之间的势差。简而言之,翻译不仅受文化势差的影响,并会在文化交际中进一步扩大这种文化势差。在倡导文化多元的今天,理应倡导均势文化交际。因此,传统的文化翻译策略已不合时宜,目前急需一种新颖的翻译策略来改变目前针对强弱势文化的“不公正”翻译传统。为了获得解决文化翻译问题的灵感,作者对众多资料进行了研究,尤其对庞德的翻译观及翻译实践进行了深入研究,提出了意象翻译的策略。不同于以往的归化和异化翻译策略,意象翻译专注于翻译中的意象处理,通过在目标语文化中选择合适的意象来传递源语文化中意象所表达的意思。意象翻译不受强势文化或弱势文化的概念束缚,为文化翻译活动提供了一个公正的平台。作者深信意象翻译策略有利于缩小强弱势文化间的差距,促进均势文化交流,实现文化多元发展。
