基于关联理论对英语商业广告中隐喻的研究

在现代社会,广告无处不在,其通过电视、杂志、报纸、网络等各种媒体,深深地融入了人们的生活。广告作为一种商务用途文体,它是广告商与公众之间的一种特殊言语交际形式。在交际过程中,广告商通过广告将自己的意图传达给广告受众(潜在消费者)。为了能更好地吸引消费者的注意力,将信息成功地传达给大众,劝说消费者购买其产品或服务,广告商们采用各种语言手段来达到广告的效应。隐喻就是其中一种重要手段。本文以Sperber和Wilson的关联理论为基础,从语用角度详细地分析与阐述英文商业广告中隐喻的理解过程。通过对隐喻理解过程的探讨,以期能揭示隐喻在广告中所起的语用功能。根据关联理论,广告受众在解读广告中的隐喻时,根据已有的知识经验不断进行语境假设,直至找到最佳语境并对话语做出最佳关联解读。因此,对广告中隐喻的理解过程也就是寻找关联的过程。通过分析可以看出,关联理论中的最佳关联和明示推理模式能对广告中隐喻的理解作出很好的阐释。隐喻作为明示刺激,能吸引受众的注意力,将广告受众的注意力集中在广告人的信息意图上。此外,本文还得出,名词和动词隐喻在英文商业广告中得到大量使用,其主要原因在于它们具有吸引注意力、保持记忆、礼貌等语用功能。
