接受理论下《老人与海》两个中译本对比研究

论文摘要

《老人与海》是海明威写的一篇短篇小说,于1952年出版,迄今已有60年。小说自出版以来已有超过20多个中译本,小说的第一部中译本由余光中翻译,流传最广的则是吴劳的译本。论文介绍并运用接受理论核心概念：集期待视野、不确定性及召唤结构,以原作和两个中译本(余光中及吴劳译本)作为语料,在此基础上做详细分析例证。接受理论,又称为接受美学,是一种文学批评理论,是西方当代文学理论中的一个重要流派。是读者结合社会历史、个人审美、认知、道德、民族心理意识和文化素养等进行阅读而产生的综合性反应。文学文本中充满的空白和不定点来自多层次的语言结构系统,召唤读者或译者将这些空白不断的具体化,调整其以往的视界和意向,重构原作意义。本论文以接受美学作为研究的整体理论框架,以原文为参照,从两个译本中选取了40条具有明显差异的语料,采用对比分析的方法,从期待视野、空白及未定点、召唤结构这三个方便进行了详尽分析。研究结果发现：期待视野方面,影响译者的翻译的因素包括很多,且导致译者翻译出截然不同的译本；译文因译者对空白及未定点理解的不同而不同；正确的理解作品的创作风格及整体基调有助于形成合适的召唤结构及译本。本论文通过对译本翻译过程的重新审视,发现不同译作各有所长,促进更多的译作以新的“形象”出现,也是文学翻译研究的魅力所在。本研究旨在为文学翻译研究提供可以参照的视角。由于接受理论不可避免的主观性,缺少对文学价值的详尽标准导致了它的相对性,译者的作用被过分强调。使得本论文有它一定的局限性。为了更好的研究接受理论在作品翻译中所起到的作用,应更多的研究译者的内心世界,尤其是译者对于翻译的美学概念以及更加深入研究译者在翻译过程中其他方面所扮演的角色。
