《大学英语综合教程》1-4册语法隐喻分布情况研究

传统的隐喻理论认为隐喻是一种语言现象,是一种以句子和词汇层面之间为主的修辞手段。但是同时也强调了隐喻的认知功能。韩礼德在肯定传统隐喻理论的基础上提出语法隐喻的概念,从不同的角度诠释隐喻。韩礼德(1985)指出,语法隐喻不是用一个词去代替另一个词,而是用某一语法类别或语法结构去代替另一语法类别或语法结构。韩礼德的语法隐喻主要分为两类:概念语法隐喻和人际语法隐喻。韩礼德还指出(2000)隐喻式的表达是成人的话语特征,在不同的语域都有不同程度的语法隐喻出现。可见,语法隐喻的运用是语言能力的一种体现。本文以韩礼德的语法隐喻为理论框架,从概念语法隐喻和人际语法隐喻方面来考察教材《大学英语综合教程》1-4册中语法隐喻的分布情况与变化趋势,研究问题是:1)教材《大学英语综合教程》1-4册中是否存在语法隐喻的使用?如果有,语法隐喻的分布情况是什么?(2)语法隐喻在1-4册中的出现情况是否发生了显著性的变化?变化的模式怎样?数据收集主要是来自教材《大学英语综合教程》1-4册中每单元的Part Ⅱ Text A部分总共32篇文章,2547个句子。本文采用定性和定量相结合的方法对每册当中语法隐喻分布情况进行分析,分析结果显示:第一,此套教材中有语法隐喻表达的使用。其中概念语法隐喻出现频率最多。第二,采用SPSS软件分析语法隐喻在本书中的分布趋势,概念语法隐喻呈上升式发展趋势,人际语法隐喻发布无规律,呈上升-下降-上升趋势。第四册是语法隐喻出现的最高峰。以上的发现给教授此套教材的英语教师有以下启示:第一,教师在教学过程中应当引导学生找出一致式和隐喻式之间的差异,并要求他们使用隐喻式的表达,第四册是语法隐喻出现的高峰期,前三册的学习是学习第四册的基础。第二,教师应当培养学生英语认知能力,让学生习惯用英语的思维方式思考。第三,提高学生的阅读水平。通过大量的阅读,让学生习惯英语思维能力,识别语法隐喻,培养语感,增强他们使用语法隐喻的能力。同时,也给此套教材提供了改进意见,应该增加人际语法隐喻的分布。
