阐释学视角下汉诗英译的以创补失 ——试析许渊冲的汉诗英译

论文摘要

“以创补失”论是许渊冲先生提出的诸多重要的翻译理论之一，体现了许教授在翻译过程中主张的“创新”精神。“以创补失”是这种“创新”精神在翻译当中的具体应用。许先生认为在翻译原文的基础上，“有所创”能够弥补翻译过程中的损失，为文学翻译打开新的局面。许渊冲更是通过自己“以创补失”的实例来解释说明“以创补失”这一理念。而读者从其“以创补失”的过程当中不难看出这一理念折射出西方阐释学的某些思想，但是遗憾的是很少有人将二者的深层联系进一步地探究。本文结合阐释学理论探究了“以创补失”论的理论根源，主要侧重于“以创补失”的原因、过程及其动机标准方面的探究。由于“以创补失”论是许渊冲先生在其汉诗英译的翻译实践中总结而出的，因此在探讨其理论本身时，不可避免地结合了其翻译实例来进一步解释说明。该论文侧重的是理论方面的阐述，意在探究“以创补失”的根源，充分利用西方理论的系统性去弥补我国翻译理论的不足，从而更好地完善中国翻译理论。论文在理论阐述方面脉络清晰。从第三章到第五章的结构设置基本一致，都是先呈现许渊冲先生对其“以创补失”的原因、过程及其动机和标准的看法，而后从阐释学的理论入手，对其进行补充和支撑。而在理论阐释的过程中，许先生大量翻译实例的引用则更好地将“以创补失”论同阐释学理论之间联系直观地呈现出来。这里需要指出的是文中从第三章到第五章所引用的大量翻译实例大多来自许渊冲先生《文学与翻译》一书。该书为此论文的写作提供了充足的第一手的材料和大量的参考资源。
