双性视角下原语文本视域与译者视域之融合 ——《镜花缘》原著和英译本比较研究

双性视角下原语文本视域与译者视域之融合 ——《镜花缘》原著和英译本比较研究

论文摘要

自20世纪80年代翻译研究发生“文化转向(cultural turn)”以来,女性主义、性别因素成为翻译研究中一个新的考察维度,翻译研究也自以原著/作者中心的研究范式转向彰显译作/译者主体的研究范式。同时,翻译界也更清醒地意识到译者的主体作用不是孤立的,而是与原文/作者和译文/读者的作用紧密相联,翻译活动不再被看作一种孤立的语言转换活动,而是一种主体间的“视域融合”。本研究正是在这一背景之下,将基于女性主义的双性视角理论和伽达默尔的视域融合理论,以双性视角较为典型的《镜花缘》原著及其英译本Flowers in the Mirror为研究对象,运用定性分析的方法,对《镜花缘》原著呈现的双性视域、译者林太乙在翻译时可能持有的性别视域进行客观描述。再采取定性分析和定量描述相结合的方法,从归化和异化两个方面分别对体现女性意识和男性意识内容的翻译策略进行定量描述与定性分析以发现译者在女性视角和男性视角下翻译策略选择方面的倾向,再综合描述分析以发现译者在双性视角下翻译策略选择方面的倾向;目的在于能够在研究的可行性范围内对译者性别视域和文本性别视域融合的动态关系做到较为深入、具体的分析。此研究不仅有助于认识《镜花缘》的双性视域和和译者林太乙性别视域融合的状况,而且也有助于理解翻译过程中性别文化对视域融合的作用机制。通过《镜花缘》双性视域和译者林太乙性别视域融合分析,本研究得出以下结论:第一,产生于清朝嘉庆年间的《镜花缘》呈现双性视域,是当时性别文化的集中体现。清初的反思文化很快与萌生于明中叶的带有启蒙意味的人文思潮联结起来,开始思考批判封建性别文化和关心妇女问题;同时清朝仍是男权意识形态占统治地位的封建社会。第二,身为长期接受西方教育的当代女性译者林太乙,又加之受其关注女性问题的家庭氛围熏陶和在解读《镜花缘》时体会到该文本呈现的女性视域影响,在翻译《镜花缘》时可能会彰显女性意识。然而,林在翻译《镜花缘》时不仅仅能从自身的性别视角审视原文中展现的女性因素,也能随时保持他者的视角(男性视角),即持有双性视角。第三,在译者林太乙和《镜花缘》的视域融合方面:女性视角下,译者林太乙的翻译策略选择倾向于异化,其性别视域和文本视域基本实现完美融合;男性视角下,译者林太乙的翻译策略选择倾向于归化,其性别视域和文本视域矛盾冲突;双性视角下,译者林太乙的翻译策略选择略倾向于异化,其性别视域和文本视域实现部分融合。
