英语阅读能力作为一项重要的第二语言技能在大学英语教学中倍受重视。但是由于传统教学方法的影响根深蒂固,许多地方院校的大学英语阅读教学仍然只局限于语言知识的传授。学生在阅读中依然存在诸多困难,大学英语阅读教学状况仍然不能令人满意。自20世纪70年代以来,学习策略的研究逐渐成为外语教学的热点,并吸引了众多研究者的关注。但众多的研究中对阅读策略的研究为数不多,而针对地方大学非英语专业学生的研究就更少,因此有必要进行研究来弥补这方面的不足。本论文在回顾前人研究的基础上,就地方大学非英语专业使用阅读策略的总体情况进行了研究以期回答以下五个问题:(1)非英语专业学生使用英语阅读策略的总体情况如何?(2)英语高分者和低分者在使用阅读策略时有什么不同?(3)不同性别之间在使用阅读策略方面有什么不同?(4)文理科学生在使用阅读策略时有什么不同?(5)阅读策略的使用和阅读成绩之间是否存在相关性?本研究的受试者为临沂师范学院207名非英语专业大二年级学生。其中男生100名,女生107名。研究结果表明地方大学非英语专业的学生使用阅读策略的频率为中等,他们使用认知策略的频率略高于元认知策略的使用频率,其阅读观念比较科学。英语成绩高分者和低分者在认知策略的使用方面存在显著性差异,在具体的阅读过程中高分者能积极主动的利用文章内外的信息,能更主动地克服阅读的不良习惯。女生与男生在使用阅读策略方面总体上没有明显差异,但在具体的策略使用上,女生更倾向使用“计划”和“归纳”策略。而文理生在使用阅读策略上没有差异。阅读策略与英语阅读水平之间呈现显著正相关。两大策略中,认知策略的使用与英语阅读水平之间的相关性更为显著。在此研究的基础上,作者对大学英语教学提出了一些建议。
