论文摘要
本文以奥巴马就职演说中的人际意义为选题,运用定性和定量的研究方法,从系统功能语法的角度,分析其中人称代词、语气、时态和情态等范畴,研究人际意义的实现手段,试图说明演讲者和听众之间潜在的关系,并揭示总统就职演说的主要特征。研究发现,奥巴马的就职演说以主观性,信息性和说服性为主要特征。奥巴马偏爱使用人称代词“我们”、陈述句、现在时、中值情态动词、归一度情态副词和具有主观显性取向的情态隐喻。这些语言手段不仅能增强演讲者所要表达的观点,而且能构建演讲者和听众之间适宜的关系,使得演说引人入胜,更具说服力,从而使演讲者赢得听众的支持。本研究的创新之处在于提出了总统就职演说语篇人际意义的分析模式。该模式把人际意义的分析成分调整为人称代词、语气、时态(包含时态转换)和情态四个要素。这个针对总统就职演说体裁的人际意义分析模式,丰富了功能语言学的人际意义理论,并为其他体裁的人际意义分析提供了范例。论文的另一亮点是运用定性和定量的研究方法,对奥巴马的就职演说进行了深入的人际意义分析,对研究模式进行了演示和验证。采用混合的研究方法增强了本研究的严谨性、有效性和可信度。韩礼德主要从语气和情态两个方面分析人际意义,这个研究模式具有一定的局限性。本研究的理论意义在于从人称代词和时态转换两个方面扩展了韩礼德关于人际意义的研究模式。实用价值在于培养读者欣赏和评价总统就职演说的能力,加深他们对美国文化和社会的理解,提高他们的公共演讲水平以及促进语言的教学。
