旅游宣传手册翻译中的隐喻、转喻及其表达力

论文摘要

旅游业作为实现社会繁荣、推动文化交流的一种重要手段,其地位毋庸置疑;而旅游宣传册,尤其是景介旅游宣传册,正逐步成为旅游业发展过程中无可替代的营销手段。一“册”在手,游客可事先遍览景介描绘、尽赏美景插图,旅途中可查找翻看,旅程结束也可作为日后留念。自成功举办2008年奥运会,中国正满怀信心欲在2010年上海世博会上吸引全球的目光,而旅游业的突出地位为中国重塑国际形象,将中国文化介绍给世界提供了难能可贵的机会。然而,由于语言的隔阂和文化的差异,外国游客很难理解大部分文化含量较高的旅游资源。截至目前,已有不少文章对旅游材料的翻译进行研究、做出分析,但大都采用宏观研究方法或过分强调文化的对等性,缺乏系统性的新发现。本文抓住旅游宣传册中的景介描述语言,主要是隐喻和转喻表达,对中英语言的认知方式和偏好异同做了系统的对比分析,并以“表情性”作为言语表达和翻译质量的标准。本文先从认知语言学的角度探讨了旅游宣传册这一非文学文体语言中的隐喻和转喻现象,同时建立起将语体的表情功能和美学价值作为传递源语作者意图、评判旅游外宣翻译质量,进而重塑旅游景点形象的标准和中心。接着,本文提供了旅游宣传册中隐喻和转喻翻译的一些策略,并指出了翻译的认知动态过程,即译者的思维模式如何在关联理论下运作的过程,尝试性地提出了隐转喻翻译策略背后的动机和原则——释意相似和最佳新奇(假设)。在理论演绎和语料分析的基础上,希望本文有助于提高译者处理旅游译作中描述、修辞语言的能力,并对翻译教学实践有所启示。
