论文摘要
诗歌是文学宝库中的精华,也是极富艺术性的文学体裁,是语言艺术的最高形式。由于中西方语言文字的本质差异,汉英两种语言之间存在某种程度的不可通约性(incommensurability)是很自然的;尤其对于极其讲究语言的凝练、优美、含蓄、和谐以及意象和境界的诗歌,这种不可通约就愈显突出,相应地,诗歌被认为是最难翻译的一种。美国诗人罗伯特·弗罗斯特(Robert Frost)指出:诗就是在翻译中丧失掉的东西,此语道出了诗歌翻译之艰难。然而,尽管中西诗歌存在着诸多不可译的地方,尽管诗这种特殊的文体不能从一种语言直接输入到另一种语言中,我们却能对它进行移植,从而译者的任务也随之成为为这颗原文的种子选择新的土壤,即目标语,加以移植和再“培养”。古往今来,知难而进的译者大有人在,他们通过诗歌翻译扩大了各民族的文学版图,为世界文化交流做出了贡献。本文拟就通过对诗歌翻译过程和结果的对比研究,探讨中西诗歌互译的得失问题。文章主要内容分为三个部分:第一部分讨论诗歌的相关问题,包括中西方文字和诗歌的特点;第二部分主要考虑诗歌翻译的过程,涉及到诗歌可译及不可译性,对诗歌不可译处的补偿翻译的探讨;说明在诗歌翻译过程中尽管存在着诸多难点,但是通过合理的补偿,译文无论在形式还是内容方面都能表现出原诗的效果;第三部分研究翻译的结果,即中西诗歌互译对中西方文化交流做出的贡献,主要从诗歌互译对两个民族文学形式的丰富和发展方面进行探讨。
