论《京华烟云》中的文化底蕴

林语堂是一位伟大的语言学家,优秀的学者,富于创造力和想象力的作家。广泛认可的是,林语堂最大的贡献在于其对文化的阐释:对中国人讲西方文化,向西方人讲中国文化。他是中西文化融合的一座桥梁。林语堂的《京华烟云》是一部用英语完成的历史小说。主要讲述姚、曾、牛三大家族的兴衰变迁,刻画了众多具有代表性的形象鲜明的人物。小说展开了一部漫长的历史画卷,从1900年的义和团运动一直涵盖到1937年抗日战争爆发。小说的独到之处在于其深刻的文化内涵。《京华烟云》凝聚了林语堂的哲学和他的灵魂,在小说中褒扬了一种儒道掺和,更确切地说是内道外儒的人生哲学,通过作品主人公姚木兰等人物得到了形象的表现。这种儒道交融、寓道于儒的人生哲学,是和他的人性主义哲学观相一致的,这也是他在中西文化价值冲突中,能从中西文化互融的角度来思考人类文化命运的结果。
