文化背景知识在大学英语听力教学中的作用研究

在当今世界“多元化”的背景下,“地球村”的时代已经来临。随着国际间的交往日益频繁,跨文化交际的要求不可避免的凸显起来。具备跨文化交际的意识和能力成为有效进行跨文化交际的必然要求。英语作为一门世界性的语言,被各国人民广泛使用。因此,为了达到跨文化交际的顺利进行,中国的英语学习者就必须具备跨文化交际能力。在听、说、读、写、译五种语言技能中,最基本的就是英语听力理解能力。因此,较强的英语听力能力是中西方人达到成功交际的先决条件。目前我国大学英语课堂的现状表明,听力理解是制约学生交际能力的瓶颈。在英语听力课堂中,仅仅掌握语法和词汇知识已远远不能满足顺利完成交际的条件。如何在课堂上教授英语文化知识,提高英语学习者的跨文化交际能力成为大学英语听力教师和教学研究者亟待解决的问题。针对这一形势,作者对大连海洋大学189名不同专业的大一新生和24位英语教师进行了问卷调查和并对其中一些人进行了访谈。结果表明,学生已经意识到了大学英语听力的重要性;承认目标语文化对听力理解的影响;对于英语文化背景知识有学习的意愿及学习文化过程中遇到的障碍;课堂上学习英语国家文化的最佳途径。同时,教师们对以图式理论为基础的文化教学持积极态度,但目前大学英语听力教学仍然存在诸多问题:学生听力整体水平较差;教师自身对于目标语文化知识的匮乏;大学英语听力课程设置过于松散都使得在具体教学中的实施还存在很多困难。基于实证研究发现的问题,作者提出了大学英语听力教学中文化教学实施的应对策略一些可行的方法和建议。
