从功能翻译理论看电影《墨攻》的字幕翻译

随着全球化趋势的发展,跨文化交流日益频繁,而电影作为文化的载体,已成为一种必不可少的文化表达方式。如今越来越多的中国影视作品出现在外国的荧幕上。因此,作为一门新兴领域,电影翻译近年来逐渐兴起。字幕翻译是影视翻译的一种。就翻译现状来看,欧洲对字幕翻译的理论研究开展得较为广泛和深入,在翻译策略、翻译规范等方面都形成了一定的共识和标准。而我国在字幕翻译研究方面则相对落后。电影字幕翻译实践仍然缺乏有效的指导和监督。本文尝试使用功能翻译理论对电影字幕翻译进行研究,以期对提高字幕翻译质量有所借鉴。根据功能理论的核心---目的论,字幕翻译是一种有目的的行为。字幕翻译的任务是在时间和空间制约下,根据导演的意图,向处在特定文化背景中的观众最有效地传达最相关的信息。而每部电影的目的因电影不同而不同,这又决定了字幕翻译的策略。从翻译行为理论的角度看,字幕翻译是包括发起人,委托人,原文作者,译者,译文使用者和译文接收者多方参与的一种翻译活动。在字幕翻译的过程中,扮演委托者的角色的导演是最重要的,他的意图决定了在具体的电影中应使用何种翻译策略。另外,基于文本翻译理论,字幕翻译是一个文本分析处理的过程,译者需要分析原文本与目标文本的不同以及文本的类型。作为一种影视文本,字幕也是信息型文本,表达型文本和诱导型文本的结合体,但其中为主的是影视文本。把上述理论用于《墨攻》电影字幕的翻译,本文依据功能主义的研究方法认为：导演张之亮希望通过如实地呈现历史事实以引起人们对和平的思考和关注,并传播有关墨家的思想。同时,他也希望打开国际市场让目的语观众接受他的电影并更多地了解中国历史。这就是导演的意图,也就构成了翻译指令的主旨。根据这一目的,译者采用了相关的策略如删减,浓缩,直译,意译等来保证翻译目的的实现,同时保证字幕的易读性和连贯性。全文共分六章,第一章介绍电影字幕翻译研究的背景；第二章回顾前人在该领域作出的研究以及相关文献。第三章简要介绍了字幕的定义、特点等；第四章应用功能主义的研究方法,用“目的论”,“翻译行为理论”以及“文本分析理论”研究字幕翻译。第五章把《墨攻》作为案例,研究其中使用的相关翻译策略；第六章是结论部分。
