“五四时期”文学研究会（1921-1932）的翻译活动及其影响

文学研究会是中国现代文学史上最早的文学社团,同时也是最早的翻译社团,在历史上有着重要的地位,其成员多为对中国现代翻译文学做出贡献的著名作家及翻译家,因此对于文学研究会的研究始终得到诸多研究领域的重视,成为研究翻译文学及其对于中国现代文学影响的重要课题。一方面,目前对于译史的研究促进了对于一段时间内翻译活动的研究,而文学研究会成立以及运行的时期在中国译史上有着重要地位。当时,旧文学的堡垒已被攻破,新的文学尚未形成,中国现代文学自身的发展需要通过翻译文学提供新的文学范式,在这样的情况下,文学研究会应运而生,因此对于它的研究有助于研究翻译史和文学翻译史。另一方面,翻译研究已经从语言学转向了文化研究,这种转变使得对于特定组织团体的翻译活动的文化探索具有价值,因而有必要从文化互动的角度对文学研究会的翻译活动加以阐释,并揭示制约其翻译活动的因素。基于以上两点考虑,本研究试图回答以下三个问题:(1)为什么文学研究会成员选择翻译这些文本?(2)为什么采用了欧化语言进行翻译?(3)他们的翻译文学起到了什么作用?本文以操纵学派的文化控制论为基础,具体分析了意识形态、诗学和赞助人这三个因素对于文学研究会翻译源语文本的选择的制约;其次,运用异化理论解释译者在翻译过程中采用欧化语言翻译的原因;最后通过分析翻译文学的作用,本文总结了文学研究会翻译文学对于其自身创作以及现代中国文学的影响,具体从三方面阐述,第一,翻译文学为汉语注入新元素,不仅使得古汉语表达简洁,内容丰富,而且在不同层面上影响了文学创作的语言,第二,由于其对外国文学思潮特别是现实主义思潮的输入,给中国文学观念和思想的确立奠定了坚实的基础,并引入了新的文学概念和写作方法,第三,文学研究会所译介的各种外国文学作品为新文学创作提供了可借鉴使用的新范例,并植根于新文学体系中。尽管本研究对于翻译文学的系统研究贡献微薄,但希望能够起到一定的指导作用,对于以操纵理论从文化互动角度研究文学社团翻译活动能够有一定的理论意义,相信在这一领域的进一步的研究和努力定能结出丰硕的成果。
