从Lefevere的操纵理论评《傲慢与偏见》的两个中文译本

《傲慢与偏见》是十九世纪英国女小说家简·奥斯丁的代表作之一。本文拟从勒弗菲尔(Lefevere)提出的“操纵”理论为框架,从社会文化角度研究比较了《傲慢与偏见》的两个中译本:20世纪50年代的王科一译本与90年代的孙致礼译本。比较的目的在于揭示不同社会环境中的意识形态,诗学是如何作用于译者翻译实践的方式方法。勒弗菲尔是翻译研究派的代表人物之一,他将翻译活动纳入文化系统研究,探讨了意识形态,诗学以及赞助人对译者在翻译原本的选择和翻译策略的选择上所产生的影响,并提出了翻译即使改写的著名论断。不同的时代,不同的译者,所处的文化环境和历史背景不同,便会有不同的意识形态倾向,受着不同的主流诗学的制约。译者总是通过操纵手段使译文符合目的语读者的意识形态和诗学传统以确保其尽可能被更多的读者接受。本文在操纵理论的指导下,通过分析比较上述两个中文译本,指出不同的历史时代、意识形态、赞助人、主流诗学影响到译者的翻译观点和翻译策略,进一步影响到译文,因此不同时代的译者,他们在措辞造句方面还是会有很大的差异。本文将对两个译本从语言、风格和文化上加以分析,共分六章:第一章是引言,介绍了本论文的研究目的和意义和方法。第二章对小说《傲慢与偏见》及其汉译本的研究做了文献综述。第三章探讨了操纵理论的由来,意识形态,诗学以及赞助人和文学翻译的互动关系,不同的社会文化环境对文学翻译的影响。第四章分析了本文所选择的两个中文译本各自产生时期的主流意识形态和诗学。第五章对两译本进行评析,涉及到措辞、搭配、欧化语法句子结构以及风格等的比较。分别从社会背景、意识形态、主流诗学、译者及其翻译观等方面阐述影响。通过两个译本的比较,揭示了操纵理论的有效性实用性及其对翻译理论研究的贡献,也证实了各个操纵因素对翻译实践的影响及其指导作用,从而得出结论:不同的译本都具有其存在的价值,只要它能体现时代的要求,忠实地反映译者的翻译观,就是成功的的译本。因此在评价某一译作时不能武断地评论是好是坏,而应充分考虑到译者的生活年代,把译本放在一定的社会文化背景中,做出客观的译评。
