随着经济全球化的发展,越来越多的中国企业开始瞄准海外市场。而把产品销往海外,首要的一点就是要向国外客户介绍自己的产品或服务。这正是英文推销信的作用。英文推销信成本低且信息量大,通过信函的方式介绍产品,说服读者购买。这一优点使推销信广受公司欢迎,成为国际贸易中的重要促销手段之一。英文推销信的写作也成为商务人员从事国际贸易的一项必备技能。然而,尽管不少学者对商务英语很有研究,也出版了很多商务信函方面的教材,但关于英文推销信全面系统的研究很少。鉴于英文推销信的重要性和当前的研究现状,本文运用系统功能语言学理论,借助Systemic Coder分别从语篇层、语法层、词汇层、文字层几个层面对32篇英文推销信进行量化分析,根据数据结果总结英文推销信的文体特征,并联系语境,从语境的角度分析所发现的特征是否是“有动因的突出”以及如何受语境因素驱动的,进而提出英文推销信写作教学的建议,希望能有助于英文推销信的写作教学。本文共分为七章。第一章介绍了研究对象、研究目的及意义。第二章是文献综述,回顾了文体学、功能文体学的发展及主要理论,并介绍了该领域的研究现状。第三章是理论框架部分,对本文分析中会用到的理论进行介绍,尤其介绍了前景化和语境两个概念,并按四个层次大体勾勒出本文的理论框架。第四章介绍了研究方法、Systemic Coder、语料及分析步骤。第五章是本文的主体部分,该章按照理论简介、个例分析、量化分析的顺序从四个层面分析总结英文推销信的功能文体特征。第六章从功能角度结合语境对第五章得出的文体特征进行解释。第七章总结全文,得出结论,并指出本文的局限性。通过对32篇英文推销信四个层面的量化分析,本文研究了此类语篇在衔接手段、及物系统、语气类型、主位结构、词性频率及文字版面等方面的文体特征,希望本文的分析能有助于对英文推销信的系统认识和学习,对英文推销信的写作教学有所帮助。
