一切语言运用均有意识形态方面的动机(Lefevere,2002)。作为语言运用形式之一的翻译,也不可避免地存在此动机。事实上,翻译研究者早就注意到意识形态在翻译过程中的操控作用。然而,直至上世纪七八十年代,意识形态对翻译的操控才得到系统的研究。西方翻译学者开始认真审视权力、意识形态和翻译三者之间的关系。勒弗维尔作为翻译研究的代表人物,提出将翻译活动纳入文化系统研究。他认为翻译是改写文本和创造另一种文本形象的重要形式,并提出了操控文学翻译的三大因素,即赞助人、诗学和意识形态。本文以制控理论为基础,通过对李清照诗词译介的个案研究,从文本和超文本两方面探讨了不同意识形态对文学翻译的操控。首先,作者比较分析了不同意识形态下不同翻译文本的语言特点。接着,作者从宏观制控角度分析了政治意识形态和文化意识形态对翻译的操控。然后,通过对勒弗维尔翻译理论的阐释,本文从微观制控的角度着重探讨了个人意识形态和翻译选材以及翻译策略之间的关系,指出意识形态不仅影响了译者对原文中语言等有关问题的处理,而且决定了译者的翻译策略,操控了译者对原文的“改写”或创造。事实上,意识形态对诗歌翻译的制控作用是还可以通过伦理迁移和美学渗透等方面来实现。由此可见,翻译并非在语言的真空中进行,它必然受到意识形态等因素的制约和影响。而不同意识形态作为影响翻译的重要因素,绝非超然于翻译活动之上,翻译活动相互作用,贯穿始终的。虽然译者在有限的范围内会对意识形态作些许抗争,但迫于意识形态的巨大影响力,翻译往往不同程度地屈从于意识形态。
