错误反馈在外语写作教学中应扮演什么样的角色是应用语言学界长期争论不休的一个问题,迄今仍是人们激烈争论的焦点。即使那些赞成适当使用错误反馈的学者和教师,也无法就如何适当地反馈得出定论。鉴于国内的相关研究尚不不多见,本文拟就中国大学英语教师对学生作文错误的处理情况进行探讨,研究教师对学生作文中的哪些类错误进行反馈,使用哪些反馈策略,以及教师和学生对错误反馈的态度及认识。该研究的数据来源包括问卷,学生作文和访谈,其中问卷为主要手段。结果发现:教师选择性地对学生作文中的错误进行反馈,主要指出词语使用错误和句子结构错误;使用的策略主要有两种,包括圈出错误并提供正确写法以及对含有错误的地方进行暗示。教师虽然希望学生能够学会如何找出作文中的错误并加以改正,但其现行的反馈方式表明教师关注的是减少学生错误,而不是教导学生如何学会自己改错并提高写作水平。与教师的现行反馈方式不同的是,学生希望教师进行全面改错并经常使用错误符号。基于对结果和发现的讨论,本文对大学英语教师,学生和学校提出一些建议。教师应使用多种反馈策略,同时加强与同事和学生的沟通与交流。学生应学习自我纠错和同学之间相互纠错。学校方面应增加教师培训的机会以提高教师的相关能力,对学生写作错误做出有效的反馈。
