论文摘要
对于语言的人际功能,国内外许多学者已从不同的角度进行了多年的研究。系统功能语言学着重于词汇语法层面,以小句为分析对象研究其人际意义,其研究领域广泛而有深度。然而,它忽略了语义层面上的评价。在系统功能语言学中对人际功能的语篇的语篇研究,评价理论对其人际意义是一个补充也是一个创新。它可以应用在不同类型的语篇,例如商业广告,新闻报道,历史综评和人物传记,而政治演说词却很少涉及。因此,本文作者运用韩礼德的人际功能和马丁的评价理论探究奥巴马的胜选演说中的人际意义是如何实现的。奥巴马的胜选演说是一篇体现语言人际功能的绝佳例证。其胜选演说生动有力,能说服听众,改变他们的态度。因此,奥巴马的胜选演说被选为个案研究对象。此项研究是采用定性研究,定量研究和个案分析三者结合的研究方法。通过对研究对象全面的研究,包括定性的分析同时进行了定量的数据得出了如下的结论:在小句层面上,作者着重分析了语气,情态中的情态动词,语气状语,评价状语和作为主语的代词。在演说中,奥巴马运用了大量的陈述语气,而非命令语气。在所采用的所有情态助动词中,“will”的出现频率最高,这显示了奥巴马对于美国未来的希望和信心。在小句层面之上,作者分析了态度系统,介入系统和级差系统在奥巴马的胜选演说中的运用。在奥巴马的胜选演说中,他的绝大多数情感属于正面感情,比例占到了64.5%。通过此项研究,本文探索了导致奥巴马的胜选演说中语言的人际功能得以成功运用的因素和原因。本项研究的局限性是,此项研究采用的是人工统计的方法,没有奥巴马胜选演说的相应语料库。然而,在一定程度上本文以评价理论为视角能够对现今的英语政治演说的语篇分析研究和构建人际功能的语篇分析模型做出一定的贡献。
