定式语(formulaic language)是在二语习得过程中很常见的语言现象,它是固定的词的组合,在语言输出和交际中承担一定的功能。语言不仅是一个以语法规则为基础的可分析系统,还是一个以记忆为基础的程式化系统。定式语按照认知模式贮存在大脑中的,被说话人作为整体提取,从而减轻语言处理过程中的认知负荷。定式语不仅使说话人可以更快的说话,缩短和减少了停顿,并且让停顿之间的话语流更长,而且还可以有效避免语块内部错误的发生,这样就可以促进语言的流利程度。本研究旨在通过教学实践测试定式语对提高中国大学生第二语言的口语流利程度的有效性。两个平行组共60个二年级英语专业的学生参加了研究,研究进行了一个学期,为期4个月。在语言学习过程中,“关注”(noticing)是一个不可忽视的认知机制.输入的语言信息有许多可选择特点要求学习者进一步加工转化为自动,在语言知识这种内化过程中,关注对语言学习者的信息加工起主动认知调节作用,有效的学习就是对相关特征加以有效的关注.在对实验组中的英语教学中,采用了“定式语关注”(formulae-noticing)的方法,即促进学生对这类语言现象的注意,把学生的注意力转移到预制语言上。在实验前后共进行了两次口语测试以检验定式语关注的效果。通过对英语作为第二外语的学习者口语录音的分析可以看出,在实验后测中,从流利、准确两个方面来说,实验组的被试普遍表现优于控制组,他们说得更快,停顿得更少更短,话语流更长,错误也减少了。这就证实了掌握定式语能增加语言流利度和准确度,促进外语学习,因此定式语关注这种方法也不失为一种有效的教学方法和学习策略。
