中国已经成为世界最大的旅游目的国之一。她多样的地质结构给我们留下了无数令人惊叹的自然美景,这对于外国游客来说是无法抗拒的。旅游业在中国的兴起需要对各种旅游文本的翻译,尤其是风景描写的翻译进行深入的研究。本文从维索尔伦(Verschueren)顺应论的角度探讨旅游文本中风景描写的汉译英问题,考察旅游翻译的特殊性和复杂性,把旅游翻译放在一个连贯统一的理论框架内研究。翻译既涉及到语言,也涉及到文化,风景描写的翻译更是如此。文化的差别导致汉英两种语言在行文风格上的不同特征。在结合顺应论分析之前,本文对比分析了汉英两种旅游文本的差别。接着在顺应论的指导下,文章对风景描写的英译进行了审视,旨在揭示言语交际中交际者之间的选择和顺应在旅游翻译中的体现,力图为风景描写的翻译建立一个语用学理论框架。本文讨论了译者在风景描写英译的过程中是如何抉择的。文章认为,风景描写的英译是译者出于不同的主观意识,在语言结构和语境之间动态顺应的过程。第五章主要从顺应三个世界(物理世界、心理世界、社交世界)以及语言语境这几个方面结合实例对风景描写的英译进行了比较详细的分析。文章最后认为,风景描写翻译也是一个动态选择和顺应的过程。作为交际者一方的译者在翻译过程中进行选择的同时,既要顺应原语作者和译文读者所处的交际语境和语言语境,又要对不同的语言结构客体做出相应的顺应,以便尽量与西方旅游在文本风格上保持一致,达到吸引国外游客的目的。
