科举制度对当今英语教育的影响

论文摘要

中国的英语教育始于清朝,距今已有一百多年的历史。在这一个世纪的时间里英语教育经历了从起初为促进中外交流培养少数专业翻译人才到成为当代中国教育系统中重要组成部分的转变。在这一过程中,英语教育在诸多领域中都取得了很大的进步。然而,当今英语教育由于各种原因的影响还是存在着很多未被解决的问题,而这些问题也阻碍着英语教育的整体发展。研究表明中国英语教育受到在中国沿袭1000多年的科举制度诸多影响。本论文旨在研究科举制度对于英语教育的影响。本论文主要由三部分组成:第一部分,简述了中国的教育,主要介绍了科举制度在中国的建立。第二部分分析了科举制度的特点,重点在研究学习的目的和方法,评价方式以及在学习过程中教师的任务和职责上。第三部分作为本论文的重点系统地研究了中国的英语教育,并得出科举制度对于当今英语教育积极方面以及消极方面的影响。消极方面包括应试体系,机械背诵学习以及教师在教学过程中的困境等,积极影响包括鼓励学生大量广泛地阅读以及教师地位和作用的提升等。本位旨在从对科举制度的批判和反思中找到对当今英语教育的可资借鉴的因素。古代的科举考试和当今的英语教育体系,在很多问题上都有相似之处,继续深入研究这些问题,对于我们从中探索考试发展的内在规律,更好的促进当今英语教育改革,具有重要的意义。
