非英语专业学生词汇学习策略及问题的调查

词汇学习在外语学习中有着举足轻重的作用,近年来词汇学习策略受到了人们很大的关注,本文调查中国非英语专业大学生词汇学习策略现状,学生英语词汇学习中遇到的问题,并提出了一些针对现有问题的解决办法.本研究的被试是江西某大学的108名本科一年级学生。本文中使用的调查问卷是综合下列学者关于词汇习得策略的调查问卷而成:Stoffer (1995), Schmitt (1997),Oxford (1990), Nation (2001),以及Gu and Johnson (1996);词汇量测试题采用Nation (1990)的大学英语词汇测试题。数据分析和处理采用人文社会科学统计软件SPSS 12.0进行描述性统计和推断统计,数据分析的结果如下:一.大部分学生对词汇学习持肯定态度,他们在词汇习得的过程中至少采用了一种学习策略。但是词汇策略使用频率总体偏低,与预计的标准有不小的差距。在词汇习得策略中,最常用的策略包括查字典、死记硬背、记笔记和看例句;二.大部分学生认识到语篇在外语词汇学习中的重要性,但是在实际运用中,多数学生还是通过机械的方法记忆词汇,而不是通过运用上下文来掌握词汇;三.调查发现中国大学生英语词汇学习过程中碰到最多的三大问题:1.专业词汇(技术、医药或者法律上的术语); 2.词汇形式;3.没有对应的中文解释;四.由于课时的限制,课堂词汇学习不足,练习偏少.学生需要通过课外词汇练习来巩固已学词汇;五.大部分参加调查的学生建议词汇练习的设计应该加强以下四个方面,以便于帮助他们加快学习二语词汇习得进程: 1.例句; 2.对于新词用法的解释; 3.其他学生经常出现错误的用法;以及4.词根和词缀的解释;六.参加调查的大部分学生对网络和多媒体支持二语词汇习得持肯定态度。本研究发现对外语学习者、教学者和巩固练习设计者的二语词汇学习和教学实践有一定的启示意义。
