论文摘要
本文以2004年美国总统辩论为语料,运用语用学理论对其进行语篇分析。文章首先指出总统辩论的目的是要赢得更多的选票从而赢得总统竞选,而本论文的目的正是探索两位候选人如何使用语言策略来实现这一目的。其次本文总结了总统辩论的语言特点:词汇层面上情态动词及非叙实动词的使用;句法层面上时态及语态的选择特点;修辞层面上反复修辞与反问的运用,并系统地挖掘了语料中对语用学主要理论的运用情况,即采用语用预设、体现言语行为理论、遵循合作原则、违反礼貌原则和运用关联理论。通过分析,文章发现:在辩论中,两位总统候选人的语言选择和语用策略的运用都是为了称颂自己、攻击对方、阐述自己的政见和为自己的立场辩护从而达到说服选民为自己投票的目的。
