英语小句的句法结构再研究

论文摘要

自二十世纪八十年代以来,小句成为西方语言学家在生成句法框架中的一个研究重点。国内专门针对小句结构的研究几乎没有,许多语法书上对小句的解释主要是对其现象的描述而非本质的探讨。作为独立学科的句法学并没有穷尽解释语言现象,小句句法结构的研究存在很大分歧,值得解释和探究。本文在转换生成语法理论框架下重新定义小句,对其派生过程进行新的探索和分析,并且深入地探讨英语小句的分类及其特有的句法特征。首先本文在Stowell, Chomsky, Rothstein等学者对小句界定的基础上,认为含有主谓项关系、缺乏时态特征（[-T]）、具有[NP VP]逻辑结构并能独立运作的句法成分是小句。其次,分析总结前人的相关研究,发现并论证他们关于小句的解释方案中的不足,为本文新的解决方案寻找突破口。为了解释小句的生成,本文用到了格理论、X-界标理论、句法分析的经济性原则和语言的特性等理论。最后,在论证人类语言的基本模板的基础上分析了小句的句法结构,将小句定位为一个符合语言基本结构的NonIP,表示小句未经INFL调变,由此把小句与句子区分开来;另外,总结了小句的功能和分布等相关句法特征。本文遵循了句法解释的经济性原则,为英语小句的句法结构提供了一个相对可行的解决方案。该方案能够统一地成功解释英语小句的句法生成,解决了以往分析法所面临的问题。此外,本文廓清了例外授格和独立主格结构中的格问题,对于英语小句中存在的一些特殊句式也给出了合理的解释。
