英语专业硕士生名物化能力考察

论文摘要

本研究基于以下考虑:(1)尽管不同学派的语言学家已对名物化有了广泛的研究,然而,对相对高级二语学习者的实际名物化能力的考察却没有得到足够的重视;(2)为数不多的高级二语学习者的名物化能力研究尚存各种缺陷,主要体现为语料收集及分析环节等方面的不足。语料收集囿于条件的制约难尽人意;编码解码的技术要求使得分析难免失全。对相关文献的观察表明,研究者对名物化的界定标准与实际统计有所出入;(3)多数研究只是统计文本中名物化现象的比例或频率。本文认为,研究名物化不应局限于其在文本出现的比例或频率,而应同时关注其所处的文本语境,以鉴定其之功过。而且,为了更好地了解二语学习者的名物化能力,研究者还应同时关注文本中的非名物化形式,以对比其与潜在的名物化形式的优劣;(4)为数不多的名物化能力研究表明二语学习者的写作与要求以名物化达成技术性和权威性表述的学术规范尚存不小的差距,我们有必要更多关注这一差距,并探寻提高他们名物化能力的可行方案。基于对语法隐喻理论的认识及对语言能力发展历史的梳理,本文所考察的名物化能力隶属于语言能力,主要包括了包裹能力、平衡能力、顺应能力以及名物化意识等。为了实现对高级二语学习者名物化能力的了解,本研究从中国知网随机抽取了某大学英语专业硕士研究生毕业论文作为主体研究对象,析取论文摘要及余论部分作为研究语料,以免费语料工具antonc3.2.2统计文本中的名物化及非名物化现象;此外,出于对终端的、反复修改的学位论文的补充,本研究辅以阶段性的自然文本,主要为日常习作、学期论文等,以了解过程与结果的联系;再者,本研究设计了问卷调查,以考察名物化意识与名物化能力的关系。基于此,本研究试图回答以下三个问题:(1)阶段性的自然文本与终端的学位论文中名物化形式与非名物化形式的分布情况如何?各自的分布反映了怎样的名物化能力?(2)阶段性的自然文本与终端的学位论文中名物化形式与非名物化形式的分布之间的关系如何?是呈现出一致性还是差异性?(3)造成相对高级二语学习者较弱的名物化能力的归因是什么?统计结果显示,高级二语学习者名物化使用以衍生名物化形式居多、动形词次之;与名物化形式相比,他们更多依赖非名物化形式,主要为动词化、其次为形容词化、再次为情态动词化等形式,小句内的推理论证能力呈现出一定的不足;为数不多的名物化形式镶嵌于各种介词短语、名词性从句或关系从句中,其等级及作用未能凸显,致使文本结构松散,逻辑不严,主观性较强;同时,研究发现,名物化意识与能力、过程与结果在很大程度上成正比。本研究在前人名物化研究的基础上,对名物化能力研究的方法做了一定改进;研究结果有助于师生共同关注名物化能力的习得,以迎合学术语篇的规范要求。
