试论大学英语翻译教学 ——杭州师范大学个案研究

论文摘要

非英语专业的大学英语教学向来重视学生听说能力的训练,而忽视了对学生翻译能力的培养,杭州师范大学也不例外,在教学中很少强调培养学生翻译技能的重要性。教师们讲授课后配套的翻译练习也只是为了巩固所学的词汇和语法,基本上不会涉及翻译技巧的传授,更不用说翻译理论了。纵观现在的大学英语教材,翻译这项技能的训练也没有受到相应的重视。而最新的《大学英语课程教学要求》对听、说、读、写、译都规定了量化指标,强调了培养学生翻译能力的重要性,对大学英语教学中的翻译教学给予了从未有过的重视。另一方面,随着跨文化交际的日益频繁,社会的发展需要大量既精通本专业知识又精通英语的复合型人才,学生毕业后在工作中要求既能够看懂外文资料又能够对所需资料进行翻译。本文作者对杭州师范大学的部分学生和大学英语教师就翻译教学的重要性和可行性作了详细调查,并对所教授的学生进行了实验,提出了两点切实可行的解决办法:一、把基本翻译技巧知识的讲解融入精读课堂教学;二、对高年级或学有余力的学生开设翻译选修课。
