大学生英语阅读理解元认知策略的培养

元认知是由美国心理学家Flavell于20世纪70年代在研究元记忆的过程中提出的,近年来越来越受到人们的关注,元认知的发展与培养也成为学习策略研究和应用的重要内容。元认知即对认知的认知,即个体对自己的认知过程和结果的意识与控制。在外语学习中,阅读理解是重要技能和目的之一。阅读活动是读者根据自己已知的信息和已有的知识经验对阅读材料进行体验、预测、验证和确认的思维过程。在这一过程中,读者必须对自己的阅读过程积极、主动地加以监控,并采取适当的策略去解决阅读中的问题。本文通过对江苏工业学院机械系2006级部分本科生参加的元认知阅读策略的调查,主要探究了以下问题:1.大学一年级的学生在阅读过程中运用了哪些元认知阅读策略? 2.在阅读过程中水平不同的学生各主要采用哪些元认知阅读策略?3.学生的阅读能力是否对他们元认知阅读策略的使用有较大影响?作者对68名不同专业的学生进行了阅读理解测试和元认知阅读策略问卷调查(男生40人,女生28人;高水平组34人,低水平组34人)。阅读策略问卷包括三大类:整体阅读策略、支持阅读策略及问题解决阅读策略。要求参与调查的学生自我评价对元认知阅读策略的运用。结果表明,元认知意识和知识在阅读中起重要作用,并与学生的英语总体水平有一定的关系;参与调查的学生的元认知意识和知识整体水平不高,具体地讲,阅读时,学生较频繁地运用问题解决阅读策略,其次是整体阅读策略,而很少采用支持阅读策略。学生的英语阅读水平对元认知阅读策略的使用有较大影响。阅读能力较强的学生阅读时会有意识地运用元认知阅读策略,而阅读能力较弱地学生对元认知阅读策略的使用情况并不理想。上述研究结果表明,教师应该在阅读课堂中提高学生对元认知阅读策略的认识,有效地培养、引导学生运用该策略,从而最大限度地提高学生的英语阅读能力。
