小说Gone with the Wind中译本研究

长篇小说Gone with the wind是美国作家玛格丽特?密切尔的力作,自从二十世纪三十年代发表以来,已先后被译成31种文字,至今仍畅销不衰。截至目前,中国也已有了至少七种译本。本文从语言和文化两个层面,通过大量实例,对黄怀仁、朱攸若1990年浙江文艺出版社的译本进行了深入的研究。黄、朱译文翻译的初衷是对傅东华译本归化手法的不足进行重译,因此翻译目的也很明确,即把小说的原文尽可能原封不动地介绍给读者,译本采用了异化的翻译方法。整体而言,该译本语言流畅,文笔清新,在思想内容和语言风格等方面十分忠实地再现了原著的风貌,使读者真正感受到了文本应有的异国情调,达到了文化传播与交流的目的。本文认为,翻译不仅仅是一种线性的语言转换活动,同时也是不同文化间的对话与交流。翻译活动的本质是实现在不同文化之间的跨文化交际,而包括语言翻译在内的整个文化交流的根本目的是使每种文化都能充分地借鉴和吸收其它各种文化的异质成分,从而更加丰富自己。各民族文化之间既具有共性,又存在着较大的差异。由于异化翻译能够忠实地传达原作的风貌,最大限度地保存原文所蕴涵的异域文化特色,充分再现原文的艺术,有利于不同语言和文化之间的相互渗透和交流,最终促进文化间的融合,理应在文学翻译中受到更多的重视。当然,异化翻译不是走极端,也要注重译入语的承受力和读者的接受能力。文章还对黄、朱译本的不足之处进行了探讨。近年来,由于国际间的文化交流日趋频繁,交流的渠道也更加多样化,人们都以一种更加开放和包容的心态去观察和接纳其他国家和民族的文化。读者口味日益多元化,接受能力也在不断增强。随着人民对外部世界的进一步关注和社会文化条件的成熟,相信会有更多更加贴近原作风貌的优秀译作出现在读者的面前。
