后殖民语境下的诗歌翻译

论文摘要

本文旨在讨论后殖民语境下的中国古典诗歌英译(包括毛泽东诗词)。 后殖民主义理论兴起于二十世纪八十年代末,又称“文化殖民主义”。旨在研究殖民主义时代结束后殖民地与宗主国家的关系。后殖民主义理论指出,殖民主义结束后,原殖民国家用文化渗透代替武力征服,将其文化价值,思想观念编码于文化机器中,并强加于原殖民地及第三世界国家,妄图使这些国家在政治、经济及其它社会生活各个方面仍依附于他们。后殖民主义者指出其“文化霸权”实质并号召全世界人民共同努力,解构西方文化,建立一个东西方文化和平共处、平等对话、互通有无的多元化的世界文化新格局,促进人类文明的共同发展。 在这种这形势下,作者指出中国作为曾经遭受殖民主义、帝国主义严重侵略及蹂躏的半殖民地国家,决不能让历史重演。她应当在全世界人民面前,充分展示其优秀的文化遗产,为世界多元文化格局的形成以及人类文明的共同进步作一份贡献。 中国古典诗歌作为最早的一种文学形式,是中国博大精深优秀文化遗产的结晶。把中国古典诗歌成功地译介于世界人民,有助于西方文化霸权的解构和世界多元文化格局的形成。 但是,回顾中国古典诗歌的翻译史,多数古典诗歌的英译由外国翻译者所为,由于各种原因:或由于对中国古典诗歌的不甚了解,或由于个人的某种需要,或由于资料的缺乏,甚或是为了某种政治目的等等,其翻译在很大程度上歪曲了中国古典诗歌的本来面貌。因此,中国古典诗歌向世界的译介工作急需中国翻译者的积极参与。
