汉语双关语及其英译

论文摘要

双关语在文学中的运用可上溯到两千年前,到今天仍被广泛地运用于各种文学题材当中。作为传统的修辞格之一,双关这种语言现象,深深植根于语言文化中。由于不同语言有不同的风格和表达方式,汉语双关受其语言、文化等诸多因素的影响,有着异于英语双关的鲜明特色。汉语双关历史悠久,其内容形式不断丰富发展,双关的运用范围也越来越广泛。本文通过介绍汉语双关语的定义,运用范围,分类和不同时期文学作品中的双关,使人们对汉语双关有一个全面的了解。双关语的翻译一直被许多人认为是相当困难或不可能的。本文将通过几方面讨论双关语的可译性,并介绍国内外几位学者对双关语翻译的研究,重点介绍比利时学者Delabastita的十种翻译手段。在其理论基础上,本文将通过对不同例子的统计与分析,研究Delabastita翻译理论在不同类的汉语双关语英译中的适用性。本文是对汉语双关语特点及英译的一次有益尝试,对读者了解和运用双关,解读文学作品以及翻译工作者对双关的翻译方面都是有益的。
