A Study on Chinese EFL Learners’ Learning Motivation ——Based on a Survey of Junior College Non-English Majors in Non-state College

作为外语学习中最重要的学习情感因素之一,动机对英语学习的过程和结果有着至关重要的影响。Gardner和Lambert于二十世纪五十年代末开创了二语习得领域学习动机的研究,他们提出的社会教育模式极大地影响了后来的研究。九十年代以来,许多研究者分别从行为、认知和社会建构角度来对此进行探讨,进一步推动了学习动机的研究。借鉴西方的动机理论并结合中国学生的实际情况,很多国内学者也对英语学习动机展开了广泛而深入的研究。有关二语习得的动机,已经有了不少的调查,但是很少有民办高校学生英语学习动机类型以及学习动机类型与学习成绩关系的实证研究。随着九十年代民办高校的兴起,它对中国的高等教育起到了巨大的推动作用,但民办高校有着自身的特征。本文试图就这方面做些调查,希望研究结果能对民办高校非英语专业英语教学有所帮助。为实现本文的研究目的,研究者在80名四川师范大学航空港校区学生中做了英语学习动机的调查问卷。调查问卷参照Gardner的态度动机测试(AMTB)表制定。调查结果借助SPSS12.0统计软件,运用描述统计手段进行了分析研究。研究结果表明民办高校非英语专业学生具有内在动机和外在动机,但内在动机明显少于外在动机,即使少部分学生有内在动机,其影响程度也很低。外在动机主要有三种倾向:通过考试,获得大学文凭以及找到一份好的工作。对于动机类型与英语成绩之间的关系方面,内在动机在一定程度上对一些高分数学生有影响。在本研究的基础上,本文提出了一些培养民办高校非英语专业学生英语学习动机的建议,如对学生实行因材施教,激发学生学习英语的内在动机,建立自我效能,帮助学生拟订适当的学习计划,创建良好的学习氛围,对学生的行为做出及时的反馈,以及引导学生正确归因等。
