独立学院英语专业课程大纲改革 ——以浙江大学宁波理工学院为例

20世纪90年代末在我国高等教育中迅速发展起来的独立学院是一类依托普通高等学校(母体学校)的教育资源、采用公办民助机制运作的本科高等院校。目前我国独立学院已形成了相当的办学规模,国家教育部2008年公布的数据显示全国共有独立学院315所,约占本科院校总数的1／3。自改革开放以来,社会对英语人才的需求激增,因此不同层次、不同类型的大学都开设了英语专业。但是,这些不同类别大学的英语专业课程设置大都雷同。然而独立学院的现实情况是学生主要来自第三批次录取的本科生,他们学习基础、条件、需求等方面明显不同于普通高等学校的学生；与普通高校的毕业生相比,这些学生毕业后的择业范围也有其特殊性。因此独立学院的英语专业应区别于普通高校,在课程设置前充分调查并分析学生的需求和社会的需求,针对自身的特点进行课程设置。这样培养出来的学生才能真正成为社会所需要的复合型英语人才。独立学院设立将近10年,其英语专业的毕业生已为数不少,这些毕业生都在什么样的单位工作,如何使用英语?他们使用英语的情况又对我们今后英语专业课程设置有什么样的启示?同时,随着我国经济改革和对外开放的逐渐深入,大量外资和合资企业纷纷建立,社会和用人单位对外语人才的培养提出了新的要求。外语教育因时而变,课程设置也从以培养单纯的语言技能为主要目标转变为以培养语言技能加专业知识为主要目标,即培养英语复合型人才。但是这种新的培养模式是否还存在着什么问题?本文通过运用理论分析和实证研究的方法,在综述大纲设计的重要概念和课程改革的主要过程的基础上,以浙江大学宁波理工学院为样本,结合现有的课程设置中存在的问题,用定量与定性的方法,以问卷、访谈等形式对当前独立学院英语专业学生的英语学习需求,学习目的和英语教学课程设置现状进行了详尽的阐述,并通过招聘广告,分析当前社会和用人单位对英语人才的需求,最终提出了新的教学大纲设计原则,同时探索性地提出独立院校的英语专业课程大纲改革框架。新大纲包含了通识教育课程、英语专业技能课程、文化与跨文化课程、专业方向课程和实践课程等五个模块,并提出了提高学生自主学习能力,增加选修课的比例和建立实践基地等问题,以确保应用型,复合型英语人才的培养。
